Islander
The top of the pecking order, Islanders have the power in their blood and are raised to believe they are superior because they have never been dirtied or muddled by the powerless outside world. To the Islander life off the island is a barbaric nightmare and those from the outside must be barbarians, even if they do have powers. Anyone born on the island is a part of this group, but the longer your family tree has been rooted in the soil of Avalon the higher rank you usually have. The Headmaster, ruler of the Castle people, is said to be descended from Merlin, the first human being to step foot on Avalon.
Newcomers
People who were born off the island in the modern world and grew up having to try and hide and deal with their powers. When the Seekers found them they accepted the invitation to what they hoped would be freedom from persecution. While they were never persecuted about their powers again, the Newcomers still have to face the smug attitudes of the technologically backward Islanders. Most can deal with it though, since rather than the level of danger there had been in the outside world, here it's limited to name calling, pranks, insults, and occasionally minor physical abuse.
Seekers
Taken from all walks of life, Newcomer, Islander, and even Non-Gifted they go through years of tough training for using their powers and bodies in combat as well as fitting into their surroundings whether they be home at Avalon keeping an eye on the bullying problem, on the watch for a Forsaken attack, or out in the many countries and cultures of the outside modern world. While there is no real chain of command, leadership is often decided by experience and power -- the better the Seeker the more likely someone is to listen to him rather than some newbie. They are the force of the Castle and thus the Headmaster and take their orders from him and directly report to him; at least, the older ones do. Newbies just report to their elder Seekers.
Forsaken
Casting away civilization they eek a living out in the merciless wilds of Avalon harboring hatred toward the Castlers who drove them away. Usually having some kind of physical strangeness to them that cast them out for the ones who were once Castlers. There are then those who were born Forsaken. They are taught to hate Castlers though they have no personal grudge themselves. The ones without powers don't live long in the Spartan life styles they lead; only the strong can survive in the wild and only the strong are needed to continue the grudge against the Castle and its residents. Their Leader is a person who forged his way there using strength and wit and proved to be best able to lead them, that or too powerful for anyone to protest against.
Non-Gifted
Out of all the people on Avalon the ones who get the least attention are the hard working Non-Gifted. Born on Avalon but without the powers which are the passport for entrance they are looked down on as weak and failures. But without them life on the Isle would be completely different. They are the ones risking themselves out on the waves, in the woods, and on the fields to make sure the Gifted are fed and clothed and can live lives of comfort with minimum drudgery having to be done themselves. Forbidden to live in the protection of the Castle those who work in it live instead in the nearby village and others live on at the Harbor where they are more independent, even having their own market, but still under the boot of the Gifted unless they manage to rise into the ranks of the Seekers.
