The market place is different from what you might be thinking. Sure there are many stands and stores where good are displayed and merchants bellow out why you should come to them. What is different is the monetary system. Rather than a form of currency the rest of the world uses the people of Avalon use something closer to a barter system, willing to exchange one good for another or goods for a service. They do have currency though, small perfectly smooth pebbles marked with the seal of the Headmaster which can only be created by the Gifted so they Gifted have control of even the economy of their slaves.
