Name: Riah (Rye ah) Seraval
Age: 38
Gender: Female
Role: Forsaken
Powers: Other than her odd looks she is also able to read intents. It is a bit different than reading minds, she can't tell what your thinking or your emotional state but she can tell what you want or are planning to do. Like an intent to get something to eat, or to pull a knife out and take a stab at her. Very handy for a woman living on the edge of the knife as she is.
Appearance:
History/Personality: Riah was originally an islander, born to an old family of Avalon. Unfortunately she was born with a gift that caused her physical appearance to be, less than perfect. She was treated by others with tormenting and ostracizing, whether intentional or just because she terrified them. Her attitude didn't help. Growing up with no one but enemies she became sharp and prickly. She always was getting into fights over disrespectful treatment toward her or intended insults which she could pick up from those around her. She was a serious problem child. Then came one of the most important days of her life. Her first Forsaken attack.
It happened when she was 14, her class had been brought outside for a lesson and the Forsaken attacked. The teacher was a barrier maker and quickly set one up to protect the students. As they all huddled toward the older man Riah stood apart. Finally she turned and approached them, smiling widely. She got right next to him and then ripped out his throat with a clawed hand. The barrier went down and the massacre began, all except Riah who stood there still smiling, covered in the blood of her teacher and peers. The Forsaken invited her to join them which she readily accepted not knowing what she was in for.
The wilds really were nothing like the castle where non-gifted did everything for her. Not to mention now there were all sort of dangers like wild beasts and so on which she had to defend herself against. She nearly starved the first week since no one helped her. In fact it was the opposite, most hated her for being a former castle dweller and she received many beatings and worse. She managed to survive though, adapting to the every man for himself and survival of the fittest attitude of the Forsaken. She earned respect the way they all did, by thrashing those who disrespected her, or even killing them if she felt so inclined. She also learned to be submissive and obey those stronger than her least they be inclined to kill her. She gladly participated in attacks against the castle and whatever other mission the Forsaken leader sent her to do. Despite the harsh life style she never felt like trying to leave, after all here everyone was just as freakish looking as her, in fact the few ones born to Forsaken parents being perfectly normal in appearance were looked down upon, if they lived. It was common practice to kill children who had no gifts, or whose gifts were weak or useless, or in some instances if the child had no anomalies. In some ways this was even a mercy for Riah found her abnormal body made her much better for adapting to the wild than if she had lily skin and no extra limbs or claws and certainly a non-gifted would not survive too long at all.
Years passed and another important day of Riah's life, marked by another important murder, came. This time she killed the leader of the Forsaken. Rather than rise up against her the Forsaken now bowed to her, after all leadership in the Forsaken is determined by strength more than anything and if the old leader wasn't strong enough to defeat Riah he obviously didn't deserve to be leader. Of course many now came after Riah, she dealt with them in a very permanent manner, making sure to show everyone what happened when they messed with her. She isn't just all brawn after all, she's clever and sly. It's how such a small woman is able to stay ruler of a group of misfits driven by revenge.
